Messages of condolence to King Charles III and the entire Royal Family from the British Jewish community
We are no longer accepting any new submissions. Thank you to everyone who sent messages.
The 6th Edgware Brownies join with the Girlguiding family in mourning the passing of a wonderful Patron who was a Guide from the age of 11. When enrolled, a Brownie would promise 'to serve the Queen and the Community and help other people'. Over the years , the Brownies would learn of Her Majesty's involvement in Girlguiding and enjoy celebrating her Jubilees.
At this sad time we send our condolences to King Charles III and all the Royal Family. We hope that the memories they have of the Queen as a mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt and cousin as well as a Monarch will be a comfort to them.

I have only known Queen Elizabeth II throughout my life, but felt that she was such an inspiration to everyone. She led by example, and was always respectful to others and allowed herself to be seen by all when out visiting nations, or just within our country. She worked hard on behalf of our country and expected nothing in return - "it was my duty". She was a beacon of hope to all and a shining example of how to behave regardless of what was happening in her life. I wish I could be half the person that she was.
May her memory be for a blessing and may she rest in peace now.
Thank you so much. Hilary & Daniel

The members of Westminster Synagogue want to share our deepest condolences with King Charles III, Queen Consort Camilla and the entire Royal Family, for the passing of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II.
We are grateful for the wisdom and dignity of her seventy years as our Head of State, for the guidance she gave to our government, and for her dedication to the welfare of all of us who live and work and raise our families here.
The Queen guided us and provided kindness and inspiration to the nation and to the world. In times of joy, she expressed our gratitude and in times of trouble she spoke to comfort us and reassure us of better times to come.
We pay tribute also to Queen Elizabeth’s determination to provide in this country a safe place for all to worship according to their faith. By her example, many learned to show respect and kindness to peoples of all races and religions. Every week in this synagogue, we have prayed for our Sovereign Lady Queen Elizabeth, that she be blessed with wisdom and understanding and that she advance the welfare of the nation. We are grateful that our Queen surpassed the hopes of our prayers.
We pray also for all who grieve for Queen Elizabeth, her family and those who knew her, and for all those who respected her dignity and leadership and who now mourn her passing.
May the life of the Queen and the memory of her inspirational service be a blessing to us and to our future generations.
May God bless her and keep her and grant her everlasting rest.

On behalf of my family I wish to extend our sincere and deepest condolences to the family of our late Queen Elizabeth. She was a shining example of devotion and love, and who worked tirelessly for the crown and her family. I believe her to have been a supporter of the Jewish people in the Uk, for which we are very grateful. She combined duty , responsibility, and family despite the challenges which this will have brought. An example to us all. Rest in peace at the side of your dear Philip. And thank you.

Queen Elizabeth II embodied all the traits of a great leader (including a lively sense of humour). She was true to her word, and her life as the Monarch was devoted to all her subjects in the UK and Commonwealth. It is so fitting to see people from all over the world pay tribute to her, and show their deep affection and enormous respect. Her Majesty was the best of us all.

I was deeply saddened to hear of the Queen's passing.
I was surprised how cut up I felt about it. Its not like I knew her personally, but I feel like I’ve known her all my life, grew up with her and its hard to imagine Great Britain without her. It feels like I’ve lost a friend who has always been there.
I know that from stories from the Holocaust Education Trust, Holocaust Memorial Day Trust and the late Chief Rabbi Jonathan Sacks that she formed a special bond with Holocaust survivors when she met them.
It will feel weird at synagogue to read the prayer for the Royal family without saying her name.
The country will greatly miss her calmness and unparalleled dutifulness. Her commitment to duty, hard work and integrity were an inspiring example we can all learn from.
She didn’t just believe these values, she lived them and did it all with great humility. She represented the best form of patriotism. I was always in awe of her devotion to Great Britain and her utter selflessness and dignity. The speech she gave during the Covid-19 pandemic reminded me there would be better times and that we weren’t on our own. She was the gold standard when it came to heads of state, who would do well to learn from her and follow her shining example.
For me she was an island of stability, peace and calm in Great Britain, throughout times of great turbulence and tumult.
I'm sure I speak for many when I say the Queen's family and friends are in my thoughts, prayers and heart.
May her memory be a blessing.
