LSJS (London School of Jewish Studies), formally known as Jews’ College, stands with the wider community in mourning the death of our extraordinary monarch. Having been established in 1855, we are privileged to hold many items of significance in our library connecting our community to the monarchy and we will treasure these always. We deeply appreciate the respect, love and encouragement that Queen Elizabeth gave Jews in the United Kingdom and across the Commonwealth. May she rest in peace and be a blessing to us all. The Chair and Trustees of JAMH were so saddened to hear of the death of our wonderful Queen. We know how much she meant to the Jewish community and how her passing has impacted individuals who feel they have lost a friend. We wish King Charles, the Queen Consort, the Prince and Princess of Wales and all the Royal Family, blessings and 'simcha' in their future roles.

On behalf of our community may I express our heartfelt condolences to King Charles III and all the Royal family on the passing of our dear late Sovereign Queen Elizabeth II.

Her Majesty was the most perfect example of duty who bore the burdens of office with great dignity. Her Majesty expertly coupled affairs of state alongside her role as a mother, grandmother and as a matriarch to all.

We are particularly indebted to her late Majesty for her role in peace and reconciliation in Ireland.

Tragically we have witnessed the passing of the most remarkable lady the world has ever known. We had the benefit of the Queen’s great wisdom and the outpouring of grief both within the UK, Commonwealth and the rest of the world is testament to the enormous respect she had so clearly earned and deserved.

We are confident that King Charles III will continue in the dear late Queen’s footsteps as an example to our great nation in the Queen’s blessed memory.

We will all dearly miss our wonderful late Monarch.

May I in the Jewish tradition wish his Royal Highness, Kind Charles III a long life.

I along with the Jewish community in Cardiff, join you in your grief for Her Royal Majesty the Queen.
For she made us all feel part of her wider family, providing us with guidance, stability and a sense of purpose, as one's Mother does.
She taught us through her actions the embodiment of the values of grace, humility and service.
May these noble and sacred values live on in all of us in her merit, eternally, and may this give comfort.

Quite simply, Elizabeth was a good woman.

Mr David Alfred

It was with great sadness that we learned last week of the death of Her Majesty, Queen Elizabeth. These are days not just of national mourning for Queen Elizabeth ll, but of a sorrow which touches us communally and personally.

The rabbis composed a special prayer to be said on seeing a king or queen: ‘Blessed be God who has given of the divine glory to flesh and blood.’ What is that ‘divine glory’, they asked? Observing the juxtaposition in Deuteronomy of ‘God is great and mighty’ and ‘God loves the stranger and refugee,’ they noted that where we find God’s greatness, there too we find God’s humility. They taught that, in this regard especially, earthy sovereignty should mirror heavenly sovereignty.

Queen Elizabeth achieved just that, combining the dignity of the throne with humility of person. Based on her Christian faith and understanding of British royalty's best traditions, she saw the prerogatives of office as the means to service. That was her promise when she came to the throne, and she lived by it unstintingly throughout the seventy years of her reign.

In these difficult days at the start of his reign, we wish King Charles lll and all the royal family comfort and strength. We hope his reign will be marked by the achievement across the country and the world of those values he has so often articulated: harmony with nature and across humanity.

We join with people of all faiths and none across the nation and the world in sorrow at the death of his mother, Queen Elizabeth ll, and in gratitude for her life.

All of us at the Trust were deeply saddened and affected by the news of Her Majesty the Queen's passing. The Queen was a constant, a voice of reassurance and confidence in an ever-changing and unsteady world. She had long enjoyed positive relations with the Jewish community, and that in itself was comforting to many during periods of uncertainty, particularly in political life. Though she had Royal status, Her Majesty was deeply human, which is no doubt why so many people felt connected to her. She was kind, relatable, and had a tremendous sense of humour. We wish all of the Royal family the traditional blessing of a long life and hope that the memories of the Queen will be a blessing. Long live the King.

Mr Danny Stone MBE

A lifetime of service and devotion of humanity, humility and kindness.
A life well lived in the service of her country.
God bless you your majesty.
RIP.

Mr Michael Shipman

You were there all my life - a symbol of sincerity and dedication and I thank you.
You will be a hard act to follow but I believe Charles has your values and will carry on your good work

Mrs Susan Pigden

We give thanks to Her late Majesty the Queen for a life dedicated to the service of our country. Her blessed reign lasted an exceptional 70 years. Britain's Jewish community remembers with gratitude her many acts of friendship.

I will never forget the Honorary Officers' private audience with Her Majesty at Windsor Castle in 2010, on the 250th anniversary of the establishment of the Board of Deputies. We presented a loyal address to her, just as the founders of the Board had presented a loyal address to her ancestor King George III in 1760. The Queen listened intently to our family histories, reflecting the remarkable and varied story of Jewish life in our country. We returned her interest with respect and affection.

We have lost perhaps the greatest monarch in our long history, and the shock and sadness is deep. But now she is at peace and reunited with her devoted husband Prince Philip. We wish her children and all the Royal Family Long Life.

May the Almighty grant His Majesty King Charles III wisdom and strength, and may the memory of our greatly loved Queen Elizabeth II be a blessing for our country and the world. Farewell to our truly exceptional Queen - and thank you.

Jonathan Arkush

Thank you Your Majesty for just being there. You have been a symbol of peace and joy for so many. It will just seem strange you not being around as its all we have known. Thank you for all you have done for the world during your 70yr reign. RIP Your Majesty.
