Jewish community organisations launch manifesto and practical guide and candidate engagement tracker for councillors ahead of next month’s local elections
The Board of Deputies of British Jews has today launched a manifesto for candidates standing in next month’s local elections, setting out how councils can better understand, engage with and support Jewish communities.
The Board of Deputies’ Jewish Manifesto for Local Government calls on prospective councillors to commit to six practical pledges designed to strengthen Jewish life at a time of record antisemitic incidents and rising hostility towards Jews in the UK.
The pledges set out detailed actions local authorities can take to:
- Fight antisemitism;
- Safeguard education;
- Promote community cohesion;
- Avoid importing conflict;
- Make public services inclusive; and
- Celebrate Jewish culture
