Security Notice for UK Jewish Community from the Community Security Trust (CST)

CST's Latest Security Advice & Guidance

CST hopes and expects that communal locations, organisations etc. will have been following strict security procedures since the Hamas terrorist attacks of 7 October, the subsequent war in the Middle East and the rise in antisemitism here in Britain.

This notice from CST is a strong reminder that security procedures must continue, especially given the extremely high tensions between Iran and Israel. The latest developments mean it is essential that security procedures are fully implemented.

This request from CST is not based upon any specific intelligence or advance warnings, but there is a long history of anti-Jewish terrorism around the world. This is why CST has invested so heavily in UK Jewish communal security over the last 30 years.

Please ensure that you follow the procedures that are summarised below and also note the potential for cyber-attacks against IT infrastructure. Any suspicious activities should be reported to police and CST. In an emergency you should always call 999.

SECURITY REMINDERS

  • CST asks that members of the community and security personnel:
  • Keep gates and doors closed at all times and when open ensure they are guarded, so they can be closed quickly
  • Be alert for suspicious people and activities including parked cars and unattended items
  • Report suspicious people and, if it is safe to do so, engage and challenge them
  • Avoid congregating outside communal buildings and events: disperse quickly after leaving
  • Prevent ‘tailgating’ – someone following close behind and attempting to gain access to the building when gates or doors are opened
  • Refresh your knowledge of emergency procedures at your buildings. Be clear on what to do when locking down or evacuating
