Northern Ireland Assembly praised for adopting antisemitism definition

Board of Deputies President Marie van der Zyl has commended the Northern Ireland Assembly for adopting the international definition of antisemitism.

Marie said: “We are delighted that the Northern Ireland Assembly has today adopted the International Holocaust Remembrance Alliance working definition of Antisemitism. Earlier today, we wrote to all Members of the Legislative Assembly (MLAs) to ask them to back it and we pay tribute to the sterling efforts of the Belfast Jewish Community who worked very hard on this. The vote means that the international antisemitism definition has been adopted by all the devolved nations, as well as the vast majority of local authorities and the UK Government. It continues to be the best available definition of contemporary antisemitism and should continue to be adopted by all public bodies, universities and social media companies who have yet to do so.”
