Eco Synagogue, in partnership with the Board of Deputies, is marking London Climate Action Week with a seminar entitled “How Green can we make the new normal?”
Eco Synagogue, a landmark cross communal initiative with input from United, Reform, Liberal and Masorti denominations will also be releasing a series of videos in the run-up to Green Shabbat which is being celebrated around the community on July 3 and 4.
The seminar panel will be discussing the international, national, local and religious perspectives. Giving their views will be Esben Larsen of the World Resources Institute; Tamara Finkestein, a senior civil servant at the Department of Environment, Food and Rural Affairs and Josie Cohen of Pesticide Action Network UK.
The panel will be chaired by Rabbi Jonathan Wittenberg, co-founder Eco Synagogue and there will be contributions from Eco Synagogue rabbinic steering group of Rabbi David Mason of Muswell Hill United Synagogue; Rabbi Mark Goldsmith of Edgware and Hendon Reform Synagogue and Rabbi Tanya Sakhnovich of Nottingham Liberal Synagogue. Representing the Board of Deputies will be Vice President Edwin Shuker. The seminar will be shown on Eco Synagogue and Board of Deputies social media channels.
The videos, by Chief Rabbi Ephraim Mirvis, Rabbi Laura Janner Klausner, Rabbi David Mason, Rabbi Jonathan Wittenberg, Rabbi Charley Baginsky and Edwin Shuker, will be released throughout the week.
