Board of Deputies welcomes court decision to uphold Palestine Action proscription

Board of Deputies Acting President Adrian Cohen today welcomed the Court of Appeal’s decision to uphold the Government’s proscription of Palestine Action as a terrorist group.

Adrian said: “Palestine Action’s targets have included Jewish communal institutions and Jewish-owned businesses.  Peaceful protest is a fundamental democratic right. Violence, intimidation and the deliberate targeting of property and infrastructure are not.

“The Court’s decision confirms the seriousness of Palestine Action’s activities and the lawfulness of the Government’s response based on expert advice from counter-terrorism specialists.

“At a time of record levels of antisemitism, division, and communal tensions, all those in public life should be clear: no cause justifies criminality, violence or the glorification of those who carry it out.”
