The Board of Deputies joined with community partners on Tuesday to brief Conservative front benchers on the challenges faced by Jewish students on university campuses.
Board of Deputies President Phil Rosenberg and Workplace and Inclusion Officer Noah Katz represented the Board in the meeting with Shadow Home Secretary Chris Philp, Shadow Home Secretary Laura Trott, and Shadow Communities Secretary James Cleverly.
Speaking after the meeting Phil Rosenberg said: “Thank you to Chris, Laura and Sir James for their time. The harrowing antisemitic experiences recounted by Jewish students demand a response. The growing threat of extremism from Islamists, the far right and the far left, show that we increasingly face a fight for the soul of our nation, and one we are determined to win.
“We thanked the Conservative front-benchers for their allyship and asked that the Party adopt and advocate for the Board of Deputies, JLC and UJS comprehensive plan for action on antisemitism. Thank you to the JLC for organising this important conversation.”
