The Board was honoured to host a reception this Tuesday (28 July) for the outgoing Israeli Ambassador to the Court of St James, HE Daniel Taub.
President of the Board Jonathan Arkush, vice presidents Marie van der Zyl and Sheila Gewolb, Board CEO Gillian Merron and a number of the Board’s staff were joined by Members of Parliament, journalists, Rabbis, Ambassadors and communal colleagues for an enjoyable reception in which Ambassador Taub was presented with a quintessentially British parting gift of a Wedgwood tea set and PG Tips.
President Jonathan Arkush paid tribute to Ambassador Taub thanking him “for being the most exceptional ambassador in living memory” and reflecting a number of key moments from the Ambassador’s tenure, including his visit to the University of Oxford where he engaged with a number of audiences on varying issues. He described the Ambassador as a true polymath.
In her concluding remarks Member of Parliament and Deputy for Liverpool Reform Synagogue Luciana Berger thanked the Ambassador saying: “During your tenure you have made your presence felt in every arena, including in the media during difficult times and on campus, where you have stood for Israel’s cause with the utmost professionalism and warmth.”
The Board looks forward to formally welcoming the incoming Ambassador when an appointment has been made.
