Vivian served as President of the Board of Deputies from 2009-2015. He was also Chair of the Inter Faith Network for the UK 2013-2017, Jewish Vice Chair of the Council of Christians and Jews from 2018-2021 and was a Trustee of Wikimedia UK from 2019-2025. He is the current President of the Institute of Polish Jewish Studies, a member of Chevra Kadisha, a Trustee of various Inter Faith Groups and the Next Century Foundation (a track II Diplomacy Group), Patron of Kisharon, and Past Patron of Norwood.
