Board of Deputies condemns ‘outrageous’ decision to stop MP from visiting school in his own constituency

Board of Deputies President Phil Rosenberg has described as “outrageous” the decision of a school to stop a Jewish MP from speaking to pupils.

Board of Deputies of British Jews President Phil Rosenberg said: “It is nothing short of outrageous that a Jewish MP was prevented from speaking to pupils at a school in his constituency because of pressure from NEU members.

“This is a clear breach of this school’s obligations to its pupils. The episode should require profound soul-searching by the NEU about the hatred being imported into schools in its name.

“We commend Communities Secretary Steve Reed for insisting that those responsible are held to account.

“We will work with the government to ensure sectarian politics is not allowed to poison and polarise teachers and students, and to expand antisemitism training in the education system.”
