Board of Deputies Vice President David Mendoza-Wolfson has commented on yesterday’s United Nations resolution on Jerusalem.
David said: “The Board of Deputies welcomes the position taken by the UK Government on yesterday’s UN resolution on Jerusalem. The resolution referred to the Temple Mount as ‘Haram al-Sharif’ only, erasing the Jewish and Christian connection to this holiest of sites to all three Abrahamic Faiths. That the UK and 12 EU bloc nations refused to vote for the motion is unprecedented.
“We had discussions with the German Embassy in London on this motion, and commend Germany for also taking this important stance.
“We would like to thank Foreign Secretary Liz Truss for ensuring that, by taking this stance, the UK is a leading voice in making sure that the Jewish character of the Temple Mount is not erased at the United Nations.”
