The Board of Deputies welcomes the promise of Prime Minister David Cameron to inject millions of pounds per year in extra funding for synagogue and school security, announced at last night’s CST dinner.
We note the Government’s concern about antisemitism and the threats arising from the recent terrorist attacks in Europe and its commitment to tackle the problem head on – backing up this commitment with the appropriate funding.
It is also a testament to the hard work put in by the CST, the Board of Deputies, the All Party Parliamentary Group on Antisemitism and other communal bodies who are striving to make our community feel protected and secure.
We hope that this will provide a model to tackle other forms of hate and violence in UK society, including Islamophobia, homophobia and violence against disabled people. We will continue to work alongside other groups in order to tackle all forms of hatred in our society.
