Scottish Government adopts working definition of antisemitism

Following the adoption of the International Holocaust Remembrance Alliance definition of antisemitism by the Scottish Government, the Board of Deputies of British Jews issued the following statement:

President Jonathan Arkush said: “We welcome the decision of the Scottish Government to become the latest to accept the International Holocaust Remembrance Alliance definition of antisemitism, following discussions between the Board of Deputies of British Jews and East Renfrewshire MP Kirsten Oswald, whose constituency has the largest Jewish community in Scotland. The definition is a helpful tool in identifying and challenging antisemitism, and we look forward to Jewish community involvement in discussions about the definition’s implementation in Scotland, as well as further steps to fight this pernicious form of racism.”
