Director of Pikuach Jeffrey Leader MBE has announced that he will be standing down from the position at the end of 2021.

Jeffrey said: “After over 50 years of professional work in the field of Jewish education, including seven years as Director of Pikuach, I feel that it is time for a fresh pair of hands to take up the reins and guide the organisation forward. It is an exciting time for Jewish education, and I am confident that the work Pikuach has done on Jewish Spiritual Development will see more enlightened teachers providing more meaningful Jewish teaching and learning to the forthcoming generations. I have found the role richly rewarding, and am looking forward to seeing Pikuach continue to have an impact under a new leader.”

Pikuach Chair Jonathan Miller said: “I would like to take this opportunity to thank Jeffrey profusely for his many years of service as Pikuach Director. Under Jeffrey’s leadership, Pikuach has gone from strength to strength, releasing a new updated handbook last year featuring a brand new module in Jewish Spiritual Development. Jeffrey’s contribution to education in this country rightly warranted an MBE, which he received last year in the Queen’s Birthday Honours list.”

Pikuach and the Board of Deputies are recruiting a new Executive Director of Pikuach. You can find more details about the role, and information on how to apply here.

Pikuach is the only Jewish inspection service accredited by the Department for Education (DfE) to undertake inspections of religious education at Jewish schools in England, the statutory Jewish equivalent of OFSTED.
