Maccabi GB Community Fun Run showcases the spirit of the Jewish community

This year’s Maccabi GB Fun Run was not just a fun and amazing day out for the community, but it was also a historic first for the Board of Deputies. The first time in the Board’s 264 year history that a sitting President ran a 10k race representing the organisation.

Joining President Phil Rosenberg, was also Chief Executive Michael Wegier who ran the 5k challenge. Several deputies also took part in the event and race finishers were cheered on by Deputy for British Emunah Flora Frank at the finish line.

In addition to enjoying the events and run on a beautiful Summer’s day out at this year’s Maccabi Fun Run, Board President Phil Rosenberg and Chief Executive Michael Wegier took the opportunity after their run to visit the incredible charities and communal organisations that are the lifeblood of the Jewish community. They were joined by former Board of Deputies Treasurer and current Maccabi GB President and London Jewish Forum Co-Chair Michael Ziff.

They interacted with incredible charities and organisations including: Kisharon, Norwood, Jewish Care, UJIA, The Jewish Leadership Council, Community Security Trust (CST), StandWithUs UK, British Emunah, Jewish Women’s Aid, The Friendship Circle Manchester, FDUK (Familial Dysautonomia), Federation of Zionist Youth, Menucha, Chabad of Golders Green, World Jewish Relief, The Jewish Agency for Israel UK & Europe, AJR – The Association of Jewish Refugees, JNF UK, JVN – Jewish Volunteering Network, PJ Library, GIFT Charity, Jami, JBD – Jewish Blind & Disabled, Bring Them Home Now, United Synagogue, and of course the fantastic Maccabi GB organisation itself.

Days like this shine a light on the inspiring spirit of our wonderful charity sector and communal organisations, our diversity, and the amazing human beings who work tirelessly and selflessly for the benefit of the community as a whole. Thank you also to the ever vigilant Community Security Trust (CST) volunteers who stood guard in the heat to protect the community. Thank you to Maccabi GB for bringing us all together.
