The Board’s seminars

Jewish Values and Israel’s Use of Force in Armed Conflict: Your Views

Speaker: President Vivian Wineman

Israel’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs & The Jewish People Policy Institute are examining the debate in the diaspora sparked by Operation Protective Edge. In the Ministry’s view: “Wide gaps in the reading of realities in the Middle East among Jews in Israel and around the world – gaps that should be expected in a world of diverse views – justify an ongoing exchange spanning all perspectives and streams.” The Board will be compiling the report on the views of UK Jewry and we invite you to join what should be a robust discussion.

A Better Way: The Board’s Response to Boycotts, Divestment and Sanctions against Israel

Speakers: Vice President Jonathan Arkush, Vice President Alex Brummer, Joseph Moses

With BDS supporters increasingly active across the country and local communities being reminded of the use of boycotts during some of the saddest times in Jewish history, the Board will be launching its response to BDS, which aims to counter the negative and divisive campaign with a positive, proactive and effective approach. Ultimately, British civil society should not be seeking to import conflict, it should be looking to export peace instead.

Christ the Palestinian: Why are the Western Churches so Receptive to Palestinian Narratives and Prone to Call for Boycotts?

Interfaith and Social Action Project Manager Natan Levy

An in-depth analysis of the Christology of Conflict in the Middle East with focus on the Kairos document, the Christ at the Checkpoint Conference, and the World Council of Churches Ecumenical Accompaniers Programme. We will move from text to practical steps on how to create a meaningful dialogue on Israel and Palestine with Christian groups.
