The Jewish community has launched manifestos for the London, Scottish and Welsh elections, to ensure the Jewish voice is heard in these critical elections.
Drafted by the Board of Deputies of British Jews, with the Jewish Leadership Council and regional partners, the Jewish Manifesto for London, the Jewish Manifesto for Scotland and the bilingual Jewish Manifesto for Wales offers a guide for elected representatives on how to support their local Jewish communities.
The Manifestos’ summary Ten Commitments urge candidates to back the International Holocaust Remembrance Alliance working definition of antisemitism, support culturally and religiously sensitive public services and oppose boycotts of Israel. They can show their backing of the Jewish community by endorsing the #TenCommitments on social media.
Marie van der Zyl, President of the Board of Deputies said: “As our society recovers from the pandemic, these manifestos provide a road map to elected representatives on how they can serve their Jewish constituents. Following its recommendations will help ensure that the Jewish community is supported and valued.”
