Angela Eagle MP, Labour’s Shadow First Secretary of State and Shadow Secretary of State for Business, Innovation and Skills reaffirmed her party’s commitment to tackling antisemitism on campus at a meeting with Jewish community representatives.
At the meeting with representatives of the Board of Deputies, the Community Security Trust, The Union of Jewish Students and University Jewish Chaplaincy, Ms Eagle said: “It was good to meet with community leaders to hear directly from them about their concerns regarding incidents of anti-Semitism and about the life of Jewish students studying at our universities.
“I made absolutely clear that The Labour Party condemns antisemitism in any form and reaffirmed our commitment to take whatever action is necessary to deal with such intolerable behaviour, it has no place in our party or in our country.”
Also at the meeting was Shadow Minister for Higher Education Gordon Marsden. In the delegation were Board chief executive Gillian Merron, Board Public affairs director Phil Rosenberg, CST’s Mark Gardner, UJS’s Russell Langer and University Jewish Chaplaincy’s Sophie Dunoff.
