Government and Opposition must act to ‘safeguard Israel’s future’

The Board of Deputies this week responded to the decision of the Israeli Government to postpone attempts to pass the disputed judiciary bill.

The statement read: “The arguments and tension over the proposed judiciary bill in Israel have had a profound effect not just on Israel, but on Jewish diaspora communities. In the wake of the decision to postpone attempts to pass this legislation, we hope that key political figures in both the Government and Opposition will together reach a resolution which transcends party politics and safeguards Israel’s future.”
