BoD statement on remarks by Swedish FM

Sweden’s Minister for Foreign Affairs, Margot Wallstrom, has called for an investigation to “determine whether Israel has been conducting extrajudicial executions of Palestinians during the current wave of violence.”

In response, Senior Vice President of the Board of Deputies Richard Verber said: “The remarks by the Swedish Foreign Minister suggest she lives in a parallel reality in which the crimes of terrorists are minimised and justified while the perpetrators are portrayed as victims of aggression. We do not suspect that Sweden would prosecute its security forces and citizens in similar circumstances where a rapid response to indiscriminate and incessant terror attacks is required. We will be meeting with the Swedish Ambassador to the United Kingdom in the coming weeks to raise this point forcefully and present examples of the sad reality on the ground today.”
