Board of Deputies welcomes Turkish response to terror attack in Istanbul

The Board of Deputies of British Jews welcomes the response of the Turkish government to the recent terror attack in which Israeli citizens were among those killed.

Senior Vice President Richard Verber said “The horrific attack in Istanbul shows how ideologically motivated terror is a threat which knows no borders and therefore demands a co-ordinated and robust response from the international community. We thank President Erdoğan and Prime Minister Davutoğlu for speedily expressing their condolences regarding the death of Israeli citizens by reaching out to President Rivlin and Prime Minister Netanyahu in Jerusalem and for coordination efforts undertaken by the respective Ministries of Foreign Affairs. We urge Turkish officials to continue to work with their Israeli counterparts to restore relations between the two countries which will be mutually beneficial and serve to strengthen the fight against this vicious form of terror.”

The Board will continue to engage with the Turkish Embassy in London as the situation develops.
