Board of Deputies urges Government to scrap two-child cap on benefits

Board of Deputies Vice President Amanda Bowman has commented on a report by the Social Mobility Commission which has advised the Government to scrap the two-child benefit limit.

Amanda said: “Welfare payments to children do not just alleviate poverty now, but are as much an investment in our society’s future as any airport, road or railway line. We urge the government to listen to its Social Mobility Commission, lift the two-child cap on tax and universal credits, and support not stigmatise our larger families who are helping to raise the next generation.”
