Board of Deputies thanks Tower Hamlets Council for cancelling militant organisation’s Holocaust Memorial Day event

Board of Deputies Vice President Amanda Bowman has applauded Tower Hamlets Council’s decision to cancel an event at the Shadwell Centre on Holocaust Memorial Day, organised by the militant organisation, Stand Up to Racism.

Amanda said: “One of the proposed speakers at a planned Holocaust Memorial Day event in a Tower Hamlets council venue has a track record of attacking the Jewish community. We are grateful to the local authority for cancelling the booking in response to the intervention by the Board of Deputies and concerns of the wider Jewish community. Furthermore, Mayor John Biggs has promised to review booking processes, exemplifying a leadership that understands that combatting hate requires constant action.”
