The Board of Deputies welcomes the findings of the All-Party Parliamentary Inquiry into Antisemitism which published its report today. We commend the diligence and hard work which has gone in to creating it.
The report is timely. Last week, the Community Security Trust’s figures showed that 2014 was the worst in 30 years for antisemitic incidents. It is right that we now look at concrete steps to tackle antisemitism, including on social media, which has in many ways become a new frontier of hatred.
We continue to support and appreciate the excellent work being done by the Government and police to combat hate crimes against the Jewish community.
In all this discussion, it is important to remember that Britain has and continues to be a great place to be Jewish. With Government, the media and wider society partnering with the Jewish community to tackle antisemitism and all forms of hatred, we know we can keep it so.
