Board of Deputies reacts to suspension of Jenny Tonge

The Board of Deputies of British Jews has issued the following statement following reports of Jenny Tonge’s suspension from the Liberal Democrat Party:

Jonathan Arkush, President of the Board of Deputies of British Jews, said: “Jenny Tonge’s suspension from the Liberal Democrat Party has to be the right decision. She is a repeat offender, propagating the worst antisemitic tropes over and over again. Yesterday, we raised her antics as a key topic in our meeting with Liberal Democrat Leader Tim Farron and it is heartening that our comments were taken on board. This action by the Liberal Democrats should send a clear message that antisemitism must have no place in their party or any other.”
