Board of Deputies President: ‘Uyghur Tribunal verdict marks a dark day for humanity’

Board of Deputies President Marie van der Zyl has reacted to the Uyghur Tribunal’s verdict that China is committing genocide against the Uyghur minority.

Marie said: “The verdict of the Uyghur Tribunal marks a dark day for humanity. Let no one claim in decades to come that they ‘did not know’ about the Chinese dictatorship’s crimes and callous cruelty against the Uyghur people. We pay tribute to the brave witnesses who shared their harrowing evidence. Today, British Jews ask our Government and the UN what choice Britain and the world will make. Will they stand aside as the Chinese regime commits genocide, crimes against humanity and torture? Or will this be the moment when the world finally takes action?”
