Board of Deputies President urges Facebook to adopt international definition of antisemitism following bomb threat post

Board of Deputies President Marie van der Zyl  has urged Facebook to adopt the international (IHRA) definition of antisemitism, after a threat to bomb the Board of Deputies  was deemed not to have violated Facebook’s community standards.

Last week  the Board of Deputies targeted by people who falsely accused us of trying to ignite “race conflict”. This in turn led to a direct threat to “bomb the BoD…The bullet and the bomb is the only way this country will be free.” Eventually the remarks were deleted but as of now the person who made them remains on Facebook.

You can read the letter that Marie sent to Facebook’s Oversight Board here.
