Board of Deputies Vice President Amanda Bowman has commended the Vice Chancellor of the University of Essex for his prompt response to concerns over antisemitism.
Amanda said: “ We commend the Vice Chancellor of the University of Essex for his strong commitments to action in:
1) suspending an academic who has posted antisemitic material
2)ratifying the formation of a Jewish Society
3)launching an internal review into the experience of Jewish students and staff
Having already adopted the IHRA definition of antisemitism, this leadership and firm resolve bodes well so that Jewish life can flourish at the university.”
